Career

Have you ever wondered what are we studying for? It is to prepare us with essential knowledge and skills to take up various jobs when the time comes. Most of us will have jobs nearly our whole life unless you get to strike toto or somehow get to marry a rich guy or girl (嫁入豪门).

Starting pay varies, with qualifications and job scope being the determine factor of your salary. In general engineering jobs, one can expect to be paid as such.

Diploma Holders: $1,800+
Degree Holders: $2,700+
Degree Holders with at least 2nd class Honours: $2,800+

With the ever increasing standard of living in Singapore and factoring in the inflation rate, will such amount of salary suffice for us? Probably not. Education ain't cheap either, a typical Degree Holder will be spending over $20,000 for a single piece of paper in the course of 3 to 4 years. You'll be in tied to a debt by the time you graduate. Is it worth it? I don't think so. However, there isn't seem to be a choice nowadays as Degree are becoming the next O-Levels. It's a sin to not have it.

Careers aside, I should start creating my android application soon. It seems like for the past few months I am not really motivated to start anything, but I will need to do it for having another source of income to even have a chance to reach my target of having a cash pile of 1 million dollars in the bank by 40 years old.

Oh, while I was driving these few days, a song got me mesmerized and it got stuck in my head without me knowing. Colleagues are somehow getting irritated by my humming. The song is La La La by Naughty Boy. Seems like a joke song right? Nope it's quite nice actually, video right below.

Will be having my range tomorrow, been almost a year since I've shot a bullet. I will never forget the times spent with my platoon mates during my BMT. The way we laugh, suffer, persevere, those were all good times. If I were to be given a choice, I would still choose to redo my BMT with my platoon mates. But life is always a straight road, there's no way to back track. Only memories are left behind, the only option is to savour them.

I will try my best to get marksman tomorrow to add more badges to my uniform. They do look too plain now and my next target will be getting a airborne badge, if time permits. Probably about time to clean my trust helmet and ilbv, they do smell funny after being neglected for almost a year.

I am back.

3 years, yup I am finally back. 3 darn long years since I've updated anything on this page. I will be updating it once again, hopefully it will be for a long time. So, what was I doing for the past few years? Many things had happened, good or bad. This will take ages to complete if I were to list down everything.

Basically now,
I got a diploma.
I am serving the army currently.
I have a job.

Pretty much that sums it all. Went to a friend's Birthday Party yesterday and somehow the breeze that blew at ECP made me ponder much about what will be my future be. People are getting older by the day and although I am still 21 years old this year, time will eventually catch up with me.

Time passes by too quickly, damn. Time to plan my future and what goals would I want to have. Goals are the force that pushes one to his limits if he's passionate enough and I believe everyone needs to have goals to succeed in life.

I do have a few in mind now.
To get a degree.
To earn my first million dollars by 40 years old.
To get married by 30.
To live happily ever after.

Pretty bold I suppose? I guess so. Still, I would love to earn that amount of money within 40 years old. By then, let them multiply by themselves. Greedy I suppose, but that's what it keeps us to push ourselves forward. Perhaps so, till next time.
